On May 22nd, Viles Arboretum will be hosting a plant sale, tours of its permaculture garden and a volunteer day. This is a great opportunity for families and individuals to get out and engage with their community in a safe outdoor setting.
The plant sale will serve as a fundraiser to benefit Viles Arboretum and Kennebec Valley Garden Club. A variety of perennials, vegetable seedlings, shrubs and much more will be available to help you jump-start your spring gardens! This is a great opportunity to find unique plants at a reasonable price.
Tours of the Food Forest Permaculture Garden will be offered by Arboretum board member Tracy Webber at 10:30 am. Learn about the history of the collection and the basic principles of permaculture as you walk through our newest collection .
Opportunities for volunteering will also be available! Help us get a head start on our spring cleaning projects by assisting with litter removal, flower gardening, invasive species control and much more. With 224 acres there is always work to be done, we truly appreciate any and all support from our community to help ensure this public space remains beautiful and accessible to all.
