About the Seedlings
These pure American chestnut seedlings are first-season whips, standing between one and two feet tall. Seed is sourced from Maine trees that are hardy and well suited for our climate conditions.
Seedlings will be in a plastic or paper tree tube, ready for planting directly into the ground.
We recommend planting at least two trees to ensure successful pollination.
What about Blight?
Since these are not hybrids, the trees will likely be susceptible to Chestnut blight. There is no cure for the blight, but there are several steps you can take to reduce the likeliness of transmission to your trees; installing guards or caging around the tree, do not prune trees when conditions are wet, sterilize pruning equipment and clothing after traveling to sights where blight might be present.
